Manufacturing excellence

A combination of three generations of experience and 16 extruders working 24 hours a day combine to make us one of the most adaptable, responsive polythene manufacturers in the UK.

At our purpose-built site in Haverhill, Suffolk, our in-line polymer flows take polythene from our silos, blend it and feed it to the extruders without intervention – to maintain the integrity of your films. And of course every product is manufactured to the precise technical standards that are agreed in advance with all our customers.

Adhering always to the highest standards of customer care, we take the time to fully understand your unique needs. And to recommend the product and film type – and material blends – that are just right for you. Our proven track record - of guaranteed supply - is a testament to the effectiveness of our approach.

We utilise this same production expertise with all our outside suppliers too – leading, guiding and regularly auditing all our suppliers at locations around the world.

Quality standards

Marchant was the first plastics company to achieve BS 5750 accreditation (in the 1980s). Our quality ethos pervades our entire organisation, impacting every customer touch point and business process.

We employ a team of four Quality Inspectors (one of whom is on site 24 hours a day). And we equip that team with the tools they need to safeguard our demanding production standards - including an onsite laboratory, and the most up-to-date control and testing equipment, enabling them to monitor our products:

thickness and length
falling weight
impact resistance
tear resistance
tensile strength and tensile strain
puncture strength and extension

Our machine operatives check all our products throughout manufacture. Every pack and roll we supply is batch coded for traceability. And every pallet is approved by our Quality Inspection staff.

These same standards are used to check the products supplied by our Asian partners too.

And we regularly ask our customers for feedback on all our systems and business processes - using their comments to continually improve as a business.
