At Marchant Industrial and Marchant Manufacturing, we are proud of our green credentials. Our environmental policy is part of our quality manual and underpins everything we do. With this in mind we are pleased to have developed a range of environmental bags. Our compostable bags produce a natural product from a natural product and with composting the cycle is complete. Our degradable bags use 10% recycled polythene and degrade in landfill to bio-mass, Co2 and water; and our Carbon Neutral bags offset the carbon used in the material and manufacture by planting broad leaf trees in the UK.
In addition to these products we continually try to minimise the environmental footprint of our business both locally and nationally. For example recent additions to our factory mean we now can recycle 100% of the scrap we produce; we use a minibus to transport our employees up from their homes which means they don’t have to use their cars; and we are reviewing where and how we can use renewable power in the factory.
We are a longstanding member and supporter of the UK Compostable Packaging Group and we use our influence to promote best practice regarding recycling, renewing or reusing our products.
Our business is owned and run by third generation family members and we work hard to ensure both it and the local environment will be around to support the fourth.
